    Jazz waive five Saturday

The Jazz hacked away at their bloated preseason roster Saturday, in order to set the 15-man roster for the start of the season. Brian Cook, Dominic McGuire, Justin Holiday, Lester Hudson and Scott Machado were all cut Wednesday, after playing minor roles in the preseason.

  • Cook cut by Wizards

News: The Wizards cut guard Shelvin Mack and forward Brian Cook Sunday.
Analysis: Cook has never been much of an option in Fantasy and can continue to be ignored in all formats until further notice.
  • Cook turns injuries into PT

News: Washington power forward Brian Cook saw some added run on Wednesday against Indiana with both Nene and Trevor Booker missing the game. Cook played 29 minutes off the bench and just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. Cook shot 4 of 6 from the field and hit a 3-pointer as he also had two assists during his 29 minutes on the court.
Analysis: Washington started Kevin Seraphin and Jan Vesely with Nene and Booker out, but Cook was definitely more impressive than at least Vesely. Cook may be earning himself some added minutes but his upside is definitely limited. Cook has just low-end Fantasy value at this time.
  • Cook makes debut

News: While Nene isn't ready to make his first appearance for the Wizards, the other piece acquired in Thursday's deadline deal, Brian Cook, saw the floor for Washington for the first time on Sunday against the Grizzlies. Cook played eight minutes off the bench, scoring three points on 1 of 4 shooting, with all of his attempts coming from three-point range. He also added one rebound as the Wizards lost, 97-92.
Analysis: Cook had played in only 16 games with the Clippers this season, and hadn't played in eight straight games at the time of the trade. A career 38.8 percent three-point shooter, Cook is down to just 18.5 percent on the season. Cook is unlikely to see a big role with the Wizards, so you can continue to ignore him in all Fantasy leagues.
  • Cook headed to Wizards

News: Yahoo! Sports reports that center Nene has been traded as part of a three-team deal. Nene goes to the Wizards, center JaVale McGee is headed to Denver and guard Nick Young is going to the Clippers. Brian Cook is also headed from the Clippers to Washington.
Analysis: Cook had minimal Fantasy value with the Clippers, and he is unlikely to see a significant boost in production going to the Wizards. He remains a low-end Fantasy option in the majority of leagues.
  • Cook still on the bench

News: Clippers forward Brian Cook was given the OK to return to action last Sunday, but has yet to return to action for Los Angeles. He's been dealing with an ankle injury and received a DNP - coach's decision against the Nuggets.
Analysis: Cook isn't in the rotation right now, which obviously gives him no Fantasy value. Owners in all formats should leave him on waivers until he becomes a part of the Clippers' plans.
  • Cook still sitting on bench

News: Clippers forward Brian Cook was given the OK to return to action on Sunday, but has yet to return to action for Los Angeles. He's been dealing with an ankle injury and continues to get DNP - coach's decision.
Analysis: Cook isn't in the rotation right now, which doesn't give him much Fantasy value. Owners in all formats should leave him on waivers as he just isn't worth the trouble.
  • Cook remaining on bench

News: Clippers PF Brian Cook (ankle) remained sidelined against the Lakers on Wednesday night. Cook was given the OK to return to action on Sunday, but has yet to return to action for the Clippers. He may not be in the rotation.
Analysis: The Clippers are playing a lot of DeAndre Jordan and Reggie Evans down low and don't necessarily need much of Cook's presence. He has low-end Fantasy value at this time.
  • Cook ready to play again

News: Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said forward Brian Cook would return Sunday against the Raptors after missing the last four games with an ankle injury. He did not see any action in the 103-91 win, however.
Analysis: Cook averages 10 minutes per game this season. He is just frontcourt depth for the Clippers and has no Fantasy appeal. Continue to ignore him in all Fantasy formats.
  • Cook still sidelined

News: Clippers F Brian Cook will miss his third consecutive game Friday against Minnesota as he continues to be bothered by an ankle injury, according to The Orange County Register. Cook, who has not played since last Saturday, is considered day to day with the setback.
Analysis: Cook was expected to miss a few games after an X-ray taken earlier this week revealed bone spurs in his ankle. He was not a major Fantasy contributor and is averaging 2.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per game this year. He should remain on waivers in all Fantasy formats.
