Rockets' Trevor Ariza: Scores 22 points in Thursday win

Ariza had 22 points (7-15 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 5-8 FT), four steals, three rebounds and two assists in 37 minutes on Thursday in a win against the Suns. Ariza played a big role in the win on Thursday and this type of performance proves his massive worth to the Rockets. James Harden struggled with his shot in this game and Ariza took it upon himself to get his team the win. Ariza's usage rate will go down a lot with Dwight Howard back in the lineup, so we'll see him take a bit more of a backseat in the offense going forward. However, in the Rockets' up-tempo style of play, Ariza makes for a great play in favorable matchups.

Rockets' Trevor Ariza: Continues hot shooting versus Pelicans

Ariza set a new season-high by scoring 31 points (11-16 FG, 1-2 FT, 8-11 3pt) to go along with five rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block in 41 minutes of Monday's win over the Pelicans. The 30-year-old has been on fire shooting the ball over the last three games, averaging 26.3 points and a whopping 6.3 treys on 61 percent shooting both from the field and beyond the arc. Ariza has taken on a larger share of the offensive burden since Dwight Howard went down with an injury, and this will seemingly be the case for as long as the latter remains sidelined. Ariza should once again play a more prominent role in Wednesday's game against the Spurs if Howard is unable to return.

Rockets' Trevor Ariza: Season-high in scoring versus Mavericks

Ariza scored a season-high 29 points (11-15 FG, 1-4 FT, 6-9 3Pt) to go along with three rebounds, three steals and two assists in 39 minutes during Sunday's win over the Mavericks. The veteran's big game coincided with his eruption from behind the arc, as the six treys also set a new season-high. Ariza has now scored 18 points or more in three of his last four games, and he is also averaging a very useful four three-pointers and 1.7 steals during that same span. Ariza averages nearly 35 minutes per game this season and he should continue to play a large role for the Rockets, although offensive numbers such as this should not be expected on a nightly basis.

Rockets' Trevor Ariza: Scores 19 points Friday

Ariza recorded 19 points (6-15 FG, 5-11 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists, and one block in 37 minutes during the Rockets' 102-98 win against the Bucks on Friday. Ariza is averaging 12.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.2 threes, two assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.2 blocks in 35 minutes per appearance over the last five contests. He continues to play heavy minutes, but the 30-year-old is only elite at shooting threes, effectively minimizing his value in non-category standard-sized leagues.

Rockets' Trevor Ariza: Will come off the bench Friday

Ariza will come off the bench Friday versus Milwaukee, Jonathan Feigan of the Houston Chronicle reports. Ariza was replaced by Corey Brewer in the starting lineup in a last minute switch. The move is certainly a surprise considering Ariza has started every game he has played this season. It is unclear if Houston made the change due to matchups, or if they are experimenting with something new. The situation will need to be monitored going forward.

Rockets' Trevor Ariza: Dearth of production in 43 minutes

Ariza played a season-high 43 minutes, but only produced three points (1-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt), four rebounds, one assist, one steal, and five fouls in Wednesday's 123-114 loss to the Pistons. It's never a good sign when fouls are the highest counting stat for a player, especially when he sees such sizable playing time. But that's precisely what happened to Ariza, who was unable to do anything with the added minutes that he received as a domino effect of Dwight Howard (ankle) departing 55 seconds into the contest. Ariza's lack of shooting accuracy proved to be his biggest enemy Wednesday, and though he had shown improvement in that regard in a few of the preceding contests, it remains the primary reason why he's failed to reach his preseason projections. His 39.5 percent mark from the field is his lowest since the 2009-10 campaign.

Rockets' Trevor Ariza: Scores 18 points in Monday's loss

Ariza recorded 18 points (6-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four assists, two rebounds, and one steal in 38 minutes during the Rockets' 140-132 loss to the Clippers on Monday. Ariza is providing 11.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.2 steals, and 1.8 assists, and 1.4 threes in 32 minutes per appearance over the last five games. These are comparable to his season averages, and Ariza's status as a solid defender and three-point threat helps keep him on the court for heavy minutes. Nevertheless, he is not a stud in standard formats, and he is prone to putting up mediocre offensive stat-lines fairly frequently.

Rockets' Trevor Ariza: Scores season-high 24 in Sunday's win

Ariza scored a season-high 24 points (8-14 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 3-4 FT) while adding five rebounds in 42 minutes during Sunday's win over the Pacers. His offensive production was even more impressive when you consider that he was glued to Paul George's hip all night and held the Pacers' star to 20 points on 7-for-17 shooting. Ariza tends to be streaky, but his production seems to be trending up at the moment as he's scored in double digits in six of his last seven games, averaging 12.9 points, 3.0 boards, 2.7 threes and 1.3 steals over that stretch.

Rockets' Trevor Ariza: Scores 10 points in loss to Hawks

Ariza scored 10 points (4-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt) and added an assist, a rebound, and a blocked shot across 35 minutes in Tuesday's 121-115 loss to the Hawks. Ariza has seen at least 30 minutes in eight of the Rockets' last nine games, but it's rarely translated into notable nights for the swingman. That's due in large part due to Ariza's continued struggles from the field and three-point range, where he's shooting 38.7 percent and 32.6 percent for the season, respectively. He's still averaging 11.3 points and collects rebounds and steals at a high enough rate to remain useful in most fantasy formats, but the 30-year-old seems to be entering the downswing of his career.

Rockets' Trevor Ariza: Scores 16 points, hits four treys

Ariza posted 16 points (6-12 FG, 4-9 3Pt), five rebounds, four assists, and three steals in 42 minutes in Monday's 114-108 loss to the Nuggets. Ariza is coming off a five-point performance, and it's encouraging to see him have a solid game after recently sustaining a back injury. He's been pretty good at knocking down treys and grabbing steals, so owners can take his 42 minutes on Monday as a positive sign regarding his status moving forward.
