Heat's Beno Udrih: Doesn't play Tuesday

Udrih (coach's decision) didn't see the floor during Tuesday's loss to the Timberwolves. Coach Erik Spoelstra opted to go with a nine-man rotation in the game, with Tyler Johnson serving as the top backup at point guard. Udrih was presumably acquired to take over the second-unit role previously occupied by Mario Chalmers, but based on his lack of usage Tuesday, it looks like that role won't be guaranteed. As of now, Johnson and Gerald Green appears to be Spoelstra's preferred backcourt duo off the bench.

Heat's Beno Udrih: Will play Thursday

Udrih will be active for the Heat on Thursday against Utah, Ira Windermand of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Udrih was traded to Miami on Tuesday and will be active and able to make his debut after originally being expected to sit out. The guard could see more minutes than originally expected now that Dwayne Wade (personal) is out for the game.

Heat's Beno Udrih: Likely to be inactive Thursday

Udrih will likely remain out Thursday after being traded from the Grizzlies earlier in the week, Jason Lieser of the Palm Beach Post reports. Udrih and Jarnell Stokes are both unlikely to play Thursday, per coach Erik Spoelstra, though Spoelstra noted that both players should be available for Tuesday's game against the Timberwolves.

Heat's Beno Udrih: Made inactive for Tuesday's game

Udrih (coach's decision) was left inactive for Tuesday's win over the Lakers. The Heat and Grizzlies agreed to a deal that sent Udrih and forward Jarnell Stokes to Miami earlier in the day, but because the trade wasn't finalized until shortly before game time, neither player was available. Expect Udrih's team debut to come Thursday against the Jazz. He's slated to serve as the top backup behind Goran Dragic.

Heat's Beno Udrih: Has been traded to the Heat

Udrih has been traded to the Heat, along with Jarnell Stokes, in a deal that sent Mario Chalmers and James Ennis to the Grizzlies, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reports. Udrih is a veteran point guard who was firmly entrenched as Memphis' primary backup point guard behind Mike Conley. In Miami, however, Udrih can look to fill a larger role on a team that employs Goran Dragic as its starting point guard. Dragic is more of a combo guard, and Udrih can look to be more of a true point guard in the future for the Heat.

Grizzlies' Beno Udrih: Fails to score Monday

Udrih failed to score (0-5 FG) in 15 minutes of action Monday against the Warriors. He did tally two rebounds, five assists, and a steal, though. Udrih was very cold shooting the ball Monday, but in his defense, the entire Grizzlies team shot the ball poorly. He saw similar minutes in this game as he has all season despite the poor shooting display, so there's no imminent danger of the veteran losing his backup point guard spot to Russ Smith.

Grizzlies' Beno Udrih: Collects seven points Friday

Udrih collected seven points (2-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three assists, and a rebound over 23 minutes in Friday's 86-76 loss to the Magic. Udrih put in a respectable performance in the final tune-up before the regular season, and appears to have held off Russ Smith for the primary point guard backup job behind starter Mike Conley. The 33-year-old would presently figure to average about 10-15 minutes per contest and is always a threat from beyond the arc.

Grizzlies' Beno Udrih: Grizzlies' Udrih (Ankle) Will Play Final Two Preseason Games

Udrih (ankle) is set to return for the Grizzlies' last two preseason games, Ronald Tillery of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. Udrih (ankle) missed the previous two preseason games after spraining his ankle against the Cavaliers on October 12. Russ Smith has performed well in Udrih's absence, but as long as Udrih makes a smooth return to the lineup, the veteran is likely to hold down the backup point guard position to begin the year.

Grizzlies guard Beno Udrih logs 14 minutes Tuesday

Grizzlies guard Beno Udrih (ankle) saw 14 minutes of duty off the bench in Tuesday's preseason win over the Rockets. He knocked down both of his free-throw attempts, but shot just 1 of 4 from the field. Udrih is coming off offseason surgery on his right ankle, but his appearance in Tuesday's game demonstrates he was no lingering concerns about the injury. The 33-year-old will likely serve as the top backup at point guard behind Mike Conley.
