Barron Signs Training Camp Deal With Hawks

Barron signed a training camp deal with the Hawks on Friday, Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports reports. The Hawks had an opening on their roster following the retirement of Jason Richardson, so Barron will get a chance to show if he's got anything left in the tank. The 34-year-old center played in 16 games with the Suns last season after playing on multiple 10-day contracts, finishing with averages of 2.0 points, 1.8 rebounds, 0.3 assists and 0.1 blocks over nine minutes per game. With Al Horford, Tiago Splitter and Mike Muscala all ahead of him on the depth chart, Barron may have a tough time making the final roster. Even if he makes the team, he likely won't have much of a fantasy impact.

  • Wizards release Barron

News: The Wizards have released center Earl Barron and guard Shaun Livingston Sunday. According to the Washington Post, the Wizards will use the two spots available to seek some backcourt help.
Analysis: Both players were on deals that would've become fully guaranteed next month, so the Wizards parted ways with them before that occurred. Livingston, along with Barron, started Wednesday night against the Magic and are now no longer with the team. Barron averaged just 2.5 points and 3.9 rebounds with Washington and should be ignored in all formats moving forward.
  • Barron rips 14 rebounds

News: Washington power forward Earl Barron grabbed 14 rebounds on an otherwise awful night against the Hawks. Barron played 26 minutes in the overtime defeat and shot just 2 of 10 from the field to score four points. He did add four blocks for the Wizards, which have just three wins on the season. Barron committed four turnovers and also five fouls.
Analysis: The 7-footer has played in nine games this season and is averaging less than nine minutes per game. One solid performance isn't going to change that. He has almost zero Fantasy value unless he gets consistent minutes for Washington's struggling basketball team.
