Introduction

2014 CBSSports.com Football Playoff Challenge
Welcome to the 2014 CBSSports.com Football Playoff Challenge (the "Challenge"), where you can experience the excitement of postseason fantasy football! As a team owner, you will pick a team of National Football League ("NFL") players who you think will collect the most Fantasy Points from the Wild Card round through the Super Bowl. Points are based on the statistics players accumulate during the playoffs. You'll build a team of eight (8) players. You can change your selections as many times as you'd like up to the Wild Card games. After team lineups lock for the Wild Card games, you'll only have eight (8) moves to alter your team roster for the remainder of the playoffs. You will only be able to select players on NFL teams still remaining in the playoffs. Your challenge is to pick players whose teams you believe will continue playing all the way to the Super Bowl. The Challenge will begin on December 16, 2014 and run through the Super Bowl on February 1, 2015 (the "Challenge Period"). The Challenge offers three (3) separate levels (based on competitive skill): Gold, Platinum and Diamond as described below.

The Administrator
CBS Interactive Inc. ("CBSI") will serve as the Administrator of the Challenge and will be responsible for resolving any disputes that arise regarding violations of the Rules or anything else that may come up.

Eligibility
*The 2014 CBSSports.com Football Playoff Challenge is open to: (a) Registered Users (as defined below); (b) who are legal residents of the United States (excluding residents of Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana and Washington State) (for purposes of clarity, residents of Puerto Rico and all other US territories and possession are expressly excluded); and (c) who are at least eighteen (18) years old or the age of majority in their state of residence, whichever is older, at the date of registration in the Challenge.

For purposes of these Official Rules: (i) "legal residence" means the place (for purposes of this Challenge a valid US state) where you have your permanent home (at a specific address) and to where, whenever you are absent, for short periods of time, you intend to return, every person is compelled to have one (1) and only one (1) domicile at a time; (ii) "Registered User" means a person who has successfully completed the registration form and has obtained a User Identification ("ID") and associated password ("Password") on one of the CBSI network of Websites which currently include the following: CBS.com, CBSSports.com, and NCAA.com (the "CBSI Service").

If you are not a Registered User you may become a Registered User and obtain an ID and a Password by completing the CBSSports.com registration form found on cbssports.com or by clicking on this link here. There is no fee or charge for you to become a Registered User.

*The CBSSports.com Football Playoff Challenge is subject to the complete applicable Official Rules. Void where prohibited by law.

Employees of CBS Interactive Inc. and CBS Broadcasting Inc. (collectively the "Challenge Entities") and each of their parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion and fulfillment agencies and members of the immediate family or household of each are not eligible to win. Immediate family member is defined as a parent, sibling or any person residing in the same household as an employee of the Challenge Entities. Void where prohibited by law. Such excluded employees and/or family members may play, but WILL NOT be eligible to receive a prize.

Playing

Signing Up
You may register to participate in the Challenge at any time after December 16, 2014; however the deadline to sign up will be the later of 10:59:59 AM ET on 01/03/2015 or thirty-five (35) minutes before the scheduled kickoff of the first game on that date. Signup cost depends on the level of competition you choose. Football Playoff Challenge Gold level costs $40.00 for a single team, or $50.00 ($25.00 per team) when you purchase a two-team package (teams need to be purchased at the same time and for the same level of game for package cost to apply). Football Playoff Challenge Platinum level will cost $100.00 for a single team, or $150.00 ($75.00 per team) when you purchase a two-team package (teams need to be purchased at the same time and for the same level of game for package cost to apply). Football Playoff Challenge Diamond level will cost $250.00 for a single team, or $400 ($200.00 per team) when you purchase a two-team package (teams need to be purchased at the same time and for the same level of game for package cost to apply). The prizes available in connection with the foregoing levels are outlined in the "Prizes" section below). For purposes of these Official Rules, all dollar amounts are in US Dollars.

For the purpose of clarity, the two-team package pricing only applies for the purchase of a package; as way of example: if you purchase one Gold level game on December 15 you will pay $40.00 for your team, if you return on December 16 and purchase a second Gold level game you will pay $40.00 for that second team. In the example you are purchasing two individual games not a two-game package. Additionally, and as way of example: if you purchase a two-team package on December 15 you will pay $50.00 for the package ($25.00 per team), if you return on December 16 and purchase a third Gold level game you will pay $40.00 for that third team.

NOTE: Any multiple team purchases may NOT be used in a league where you already have a team. If you have multiple teams, each team must be in a different league.

If you are not a Registered User, you'll be prompted to register with the CBSI Service prior to signing up for the Challenge. CBSI will provide a list of available leagues for you to choose from after you sign up.

League Placement
Once signed up, CBSSports.com will randomly place you in a league with eleven (11) other players. Once assigned to a league, you will not be able to change leagues.

Refund Policy
Once you sign up and pay for the product, and are placed in a league, you will not be able to receive a refund.

Weekly Lineup

Setting Your Lineup
There is a total of four (4) NFL playoff rounds during the Challenge Period. Prior to the first round of the NFL playoffs (the "Wild Card Playoff round"), you will choose a starting lineup of eight (8) NFL players. You will have 300 units (as defined below) to "spend" assembling your team. You will be able to change your lineup, without penalty, until the lineup setting deadline for the Wild Card Playoff Round (see "Lineup Setting Deadline" section below). Once your lineup locks for the Wild Card Playoff Round, you will have eight (8) lineup moves in total to make for the remainder of the Challenge Period. You may use as many of the moves allotted in any round as you would like, however, you will not be able to exceed the eight (8) moves allotted for the remainder of the Challenge Period.

Prior to the Wild Card round, the pool of available NFL players will be selected and each player will be assigned a value, such value will be displayed in the form of units (the "unit(s)") by the Administrator. You can then create your team by choosing players and keeping track of the number of units assigned to each player, so as not to exceed the allotted 300 units each team owner is given, and at the same time fulfilling the roster requirements (as explained below). Players' values will not change throughout the playoffs.

Lineup Setting Deadline
The Challenge will run for the duration of the NFL playoffs. The deadline for setting your lineup each week is approximately five minutes before the scheduled start of the first NFL game that week. This season's NFL playoff schedule is listed below.

NFL Playoff Schedule
RoundDate(s)
Wild CardJan. 3-4, 2015
Divisional PlayoffsJan. 10-11, 2015
Conference ChampionshipsJan. 18, 2015
Super BowlFeb. 1, 2015

The first day you can set a lineup is December 29, 2014.

Roster Requirements
The chart below lists roster requirements for each team. You must select the required number of players at each position (listed below) from the available player pool. You can "spend" a maximum of 300 units to select your roster of NFL players for your team, and you will not be allowed to exceed that amount when setting your team each week. You also will not be allowed to set a lineup that does not meet the roster requirements. Once the lineup setting deadline passes, all lineup changes made after the deadline will take effect for the following week's games.

Roster Requirements
Position# of Players
Quarterback (QB)1
Running Back (RB)2
Wide Receiver (WR)2
Tight End (TE)1
Kicker (K)1
Defensive Team (DT)/Special Teams1
All Positions8

Note: For players who play more than one position, the Administrator will determine their position eligibility. If a player is listed at one position but then plays another for the week (e.g. a running back plays wide receiver) his statistics at the new position will count for your team. If any of your selected NFL players are injured after the lineup setting deadline, or for any reason are not available to play, you will not be able to change them.

Scoring

Point Values
Each week your team will compete against all other teams in your league. A team will accumulate points based on the statistics accumulated by the players on the team. The chart below lists the point values.

Offensive Scoring
Offensive StatisticQB, WR, RB, TE, K
Touchdown (Passing, Rushing or Receiving)6 points
Passing Yards1 point for every 25 yards
Rushing Yards1 point for every 10 yards
Receiving Yards1 point for every 10 yards

Interception-2 points
Fumble Lost-2 points
Field Goal0-49 yards = 3 points
50+ yards = 5 points
Extra Point1 point

Defensive Scoring
Defensive StatisticDefensive Team/Special Teams
Touchdown6 points
Safety2 points
Interception2 points
Fumble Recovery2 points
Sack1 point
Points Allowed0-6 = 8 points
7-13 = 6 points
14-20 = 4 points
21-27 = 2 points
28+ = 0 points
Yards Allowed0-49 = 12 points
50-99 = 10 points
100-149 = 8 points
150-199 = 6 points
200-249 = 4 points
250-299 = 2 points
300+ = 0 points

*** NOTES ***
  • Offensive Scoring (QB, RB, WR, TE) Scoring will be calculated according to the following example: If a QB throws for 200 yards, 2 TDs - rushes for 20 yards, 1 TD - and has 25 yards receiving, his point total for the week would be: 3 TDs = 18 points, 200yds Passing = 8 points, 20yds Rushing = 2 points, 25yds receiving = 2 points; or 30 total points for the week. Please note that, if you have an active QB and an active WR who play for the same NFL team, and your QB throws a touchdown pass to your WR, then you are credited with two touchdowns on the play and you receive 6 points for each touchdown (12 points total). Also, it should be noted that players on your active roster at an offensive position cannot receive individual offensive points for your team when they are on special teams.
  • Defensive / Special Team scores (TDs, Fumble Recoveries, INTs, Safeties or Sacks) Your defense is awarded points when any one of its members generates either a TD, INT, fumble recovery, safety or sack. Your defense also is awarded points for a kickoff or punt return that results in a TD. For instance, if your active defense is the Ravens, and Jacoby Jones returns a kick for a TD, your defense (the Ravens) gets 6 points. But in that same situation, a team using Jones as an active WR would NOT be awarded 6 points for the touchdown.
  • Fumbles Lost by an active player on your roster playing offense, special teams or defense will lose 2 points if they turn the ball over to the opposing team at any time during the game. For instance, if you have Jacoby Jones active at WR and he fumbles the ball away at any time while he is on the field your team will lose 2 points. This includes a fumble lost while returning a kick, interception or obviously while on offense at WR.
  • Defensive Points Allowed will take into account ALL the points allowed by the team as a whole. Be aware this includes points scored against the offense (TD from an interception, safeties, etc.) and special teams (punt return for a TD) as well as those scored against the defense.
  • Defensive Touchdowns are any touchdowns scored by the defensive team. This includes fumble returns and interception returns.
  • Special Teams Touchdowns are touchdowns scored by punt returns, kickoff returns or returns of a blocked Field Goal kick or punt.
  • To calculate the Total Yards Allowed, simply add the other team's Total Rushing and Total Passing Yards gained.
  • Rounding will NOT be used when calculating points from statistics. For example 49 yards rushing will result in 4 points.

Statistics Corrections
Throughout the duration of the Challenge, following the completion of each week's games, all statistics and point totals are verified, and corrections are made where necessary. However, all statistics and point totals for the week are considered FINAL as of 11:59:59 PM ET on Friday of the following week. If a stat correction is announced for the previous weekend's games after 11:59:59 PM ET on the following Friday or later, it will not be included in our statistics and your official Fantasy score will be based on the original statistic for the week.
