Has the time come to consider Newton as a potential bust? He followed up his MVP season with pretty lousy numbers that included career-worst marks in completion percentage (52.9 percent) and yards per attempt (6.9), along with his third season with less than 20 passing touchdowns. Of more concern are his dwindling rushing totals, including career-lows in attempts (90), yards (359) and touchdowns (five). And we're not done yet -- he lost deep-ball receiver Ted Ginn to free agency, his head coach doesn't want him to run as much and thinks Newton lost some confidence. For the cherry on top, Newton had offseason surgery for a torn rotator cuff that might delay his involvement in training camp. Other than all that, Cam's just fine! Unfortunately it's starting to look like Newton's 2015 MVP season was an anomaly compared to his other five seasons, where he had fewer than 25 passing touchdowns in each. If we're to rely on Newton for Fantasy, and if the Panthers don't want to rely on him as much as a runner, then he'll have to seriously improve as a passer. We don't see that happening and given the depth at the quarterback position this fall, we wouldn't draft Newton with a meaningful pick. Expect someone else in your league -- not you -- to draft Newton with a pick before Round 10, however.
