Charles (knee) agreed to terms with the Broncos on Tuesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. The running back's one-year deal is worth up to $3.75 million, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

When healthy, Charles has been a dynamic and productive NFL running back, but after back-to-back injury-plagued seasons, the 30-year-old needs to demonstrate that multiple knee issues haven't robbed him of his explosiveness. The former Kansas City offensive cornerstone enters a Denver backfield that also includes C.J. Anderson, with some sort of committee arrangement a likely scenario to start the coming season. At this stage of his career, Charles will likely have his workload monitored, but it's worth noting that he does carry a career 5.5 yards per rush average heading into the 2017 campaign. Only 12 of his 1,332 lifetime totes occurred last year, though.
