The Cowboys activated quarterback Kellen Moore from the practice squad, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

After putting a number of signal-callers through a tryout Tuesday -- namely, Christian Ponder, Matt Flynn, Josh Johnson, and McLeod Bethel-Thompson -- the Cowboys have opted to promote the in-house candidate. Expect Moore to compete with newcomer Matt Cassel for the backup QB gig to Brandon Weeden, which could provide Moore's first NFL snap during Tony Romo's (shoulder) extended stay on the sideline.
