Showers completed 10 of 25 passes for 91 yards and a touchdown while losing a fumble and throwing an interception that was returned for a touchdown in Thursday's preseason finale against the Texans.
He played the entire game as Dak Prescott was held out in advance of his Week 1 start, but Showers did little to convince the Cowboys he can be an adequate backup for Prescott while Tony Romo (back) is on the shelf. Expect the front office to bring in a veteran quarterback to be the No. 2 before the regular season begins.
