Moore (lower leg) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.

Moore broke his left ankle during a practice drill early in the preseason, and he'll spend at least a portion of the season on the sideline because of it. The veteran was likely going to be the No. 2 quarterback behind Tony Romo, who is now expected to miss at least half the season with a fractured vertebra. Rookie Dak Prescott, who has been impressive the last several weeks, now takes the reigns under center. Because of the Cowboys' lack of depth at quarterback, Moore could be the perfect candidate to return from the IR during the season, as each team is allowed to take one player off the IR after Week 6.
