The Falcons placed Trufant (pectoral) on injured reserve Tuesday, Curtis Jackson of the team's official site reports.
Trufant tended to a shoulder injury throughout November, missing two games as a result. He was diagnosed with a torn pectoral over the weekend, and with season-ending surgery on tap, the Falcons made the obvious roster move. With Trufant sidelined, Jalen Collins will assume starting cornerback duty opposite Robert Alford for the rest of the campaign.
