Gauging the Peyton Manning effect in 2014

Peyton Manning spreads Fantasy goodness to the skill players around him.

Four Broncos caught double-digit touchdown passes last season, and Knowshon Moreno had a career year with nearly 1,600 yards from scrimmage and 13 touchdowns. That doesn't happen with Tim Tebow or Brock Osweiler or even an above-average starting QB.

With Moreno headed to Miami, two of Denver's top scorers from last season are moving on. Eric Decker (11 TDs) previously signed with the Jets.

How much will their Fantasy production suffer? A lot, to say the least. Decker won't feast on single coverage, and the dropoff from Manning to Michael Vick or Geno Smith is dramatic.

Moreno's fall could be just as steep. Remember, he finished 2013 as the No. 5 Fantasy back!

Advanced stats suggest Moreno, who ripped up nickel and dime defenses concerned with Manning, was a huge benefactor of circumstance. He broke only 21 tackles on his 241 carries and tied for 39th with 2.0 yards after contact per carry.

Senior Fantasy Writer Dave Richard now ranks Moreno 28th among RBs, between Toby Gerhart and Fred Jackson, and says he'll end up on bust lists. Richard ranks Decker, the No. 9 Fantasy wideout last year, between Dwayne Bowe and Roddy White at No. 27.
