The Jets plan to release Davis to create a roster spot for C.J. Spiller, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

It looks like Davis will last all of one day in New York, as the Jets will be able to waive him and sign Spiller on Wednesday afternoon. Rapoport added that the Jets had been speaking with Spiller and signed Davis as an insurance policy in case talks with the former were to fall apart. Now that the team has received their "yes" from Spiller, they no longer require Davis' services. He will become a free agent for the second time in three days if he clears waivers.
