Stafford completed 31-of-39 pass attempts for 340 yards and three touchdowns in the Lions' 39-35 victory over the Colts. He also added five yards on the ground across two rushing attempts.

Not only did Stafford pick apart Indianapolis' injury-marred secondary for his highest yardage total since Week 6 of 2015, along the way he passed both Peyton Manning and Kurt Warner to reach second in NFL history for most passing yards by a quarterback in his first 100 games played. More impressive, though, was Stafford's composure in the fourth quarter. After Detroit managed to blow a 21-3 lead, they eventually found themselves trailing the Colts 34-35 thanks to a missed extra point by Lions K Matt Prater following the team's fifth score. However, down one with 37 seconds left in regulation, Stafford demonstrated great poise by completing three passes to three different receivers and setting Prater up for the game-winning field goal. Overall, Stafford continues to look comfortable and efficient in OC Jim Bob Cooter's newly-designed, Calvin Johnson-less offensive scheme that appeared on Sunday to revolve around getting everyone involved in the passing game, as five players each garnered at least four receptions, but none topped the team-high of seven. Up next is Detroit's home-opener against a Titans team that held Vikings QB Shaun Hill to 54.5 percent passing and zero touchdowns Week 1.
