My 12-team mock draft with users
Here is a breakdown of my roster from the latest 12-team standard mock draft I did with random users Friday. I'll be doing this at least once a week from now until the start of the season, so jump in when I post it on Twitter @JameyEisenberg, and we'll have some fun.
Feel free to comment on my draft selections below.
I had the No. 2 overall pick, and the lineup was QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, TE, FLEX (RB/WR/TE), DST and K with five bench spots.
Round 1 – LeSean McCoy , RB, Philadelphia Eagles
After Jamaal Charles, I consider McCoy the easy choice at No. 2 overall. Don't worry about Darren Sproles because McCoy is still a candidate for 2,000 total yards and double digits in touchdowns.
Round 2 – Zac Stacy , RB, St. Louis Rams
As a Stacy fan, you don't want to hear offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer say he has to compete for his job, but I still expect him to be the No. 1 option and get plenty of work. There's still a lot of upside here.
Round 3 – Jordy Nelson , WR, Green Bay Packers
I considered taking Nelson in Round 2, so I like this value. He's the last of the elite No. 1 receivers, and he would have posted unreal stats last year if Aaron Rodgers stayed healthy. Let's hope that happens in 2014.
Round 4 – Keenan Allen , WR, San Diego Chargers
I was looking at running back here, but I couldn't pass on Allen at this spot. This gives me two high-end running backs and receivers through the first four rounds, and I'll take that all the time when I can get it.
Round 5 – Cordarrelle Patterson , WR, Minnesota Vikings
This is my favorite pick of this team, and I would have pulled the trigger on him in Round 4 if Allen was gone. I have no problem using Patterson as a flex option because he's headed for a big season.
Round 6 – Dennis Pitta , TE, Baltimore Ravens
I didn't like the running backs at this spot, and I wasn't ready for a quarterback. So I took the player with the most upside, which is Pitta. He should dominate playing for Gary Kubiak now that he's healthy.
Round 7 – Khiry Robinson , RB, New Orleans Saints
It might be a little early for Robinson, but he was the guy I liked the most in this spot. He has the chance to lead the Saints in rushing yards and touchdowns and is headed for a solid year.
Round 8 – Christine Michael , RB, Seattle Seahawks
I'm nervous about Marshawn Lynch this season coming off his workload from 2013, and I expect Michael to benefit. I plan to target Michael in all leagues this year, so this was the spot to grab him.
Round 9 – Matt Ryan , QB, Atlanta Falcons
Normally when I draft with users I'm not able to draft someone like Ryan this late, but hopefully other owners are catching on that you can wait on a quarterback this year. I took Ryan with Robert Griffin III and Tony Romo still on the board, but I like Ryan to have a big season with a healthy Julio Jones.
Round 10 – Tre Mason, RB, Rams
Just in case the Rams do give more work to Mason and less to Stacy, or in case Stacy gets hurt, I'm covered with the handcuff option in Mason.
Round 11 – Stepfan Taylor , RB, Arizona Cardinals
You won't find a bigger Andre Ellington supporter than me, but I also like Taylor. He has the chance to lead the Cardinals in rushing touchdowns and could be a nice surprise with his yards.
Round 12 – Rod Streater , WR, Oakland Raiders
He should be the best receiver in Oakland this year and was the receiver I liked the best in this spot. If Nelson, Allen and Patterson are healthy and do their jobs then I'll have little need for Streater, but he had the most upside in this spot.
Round 13 – San Francisco 49ers DST
Round 14 – Nick Novak , K, Chargers
