Lions coach Jim Caldwell told reporters Friday rookie defensive back Nevin Lawson will be the team's primary nickel corner for Week 2 against the Panthers.

The spot in the secondary came open when Bill Bentley suffered an ACL injury that ended his season in Week 1. Lawson had one tackle in his NFL debut in Week 1. Lawson was a 4th round pick out of Utah State in this year's draft.
