Dixon gained 44 yards on nine carries in Thursday's preseason game against the Panthers.

Even with a healthy Justin Forsett held out, Dixon was only the third running back to enter the game, behind both Javorius Allen and Terrance West. No matter, the fourth-round rookie made a strong impression, leading the team in rushing while putting up 4.9 YPC. Allen and West also impressed, with the former scoring a 19-yard touchdown through the air, and the latter scoring a pair of touchdowns on the ground. While a lock to make the final roster, Dixon is merely part of a four-way competition to earn snaps. The battle will likely continue throughout the preseason, and there's no guarantee there will be a clear winner.
