Redskins' Jordan Reed: Making progress in protocol

Reed is making progress in the NFL's concussion protocol and hasn't been ruled out of Sunday's game versus the Lions, CBS Sports' Jason La Confora reports.

Reed was forced to miss Sunday's win over the Eagles after suffering the fifth known concussion of his career. While that amount of trauma is definitely a concern as Reed remains subject to league protocol, he's at least reportedly making strides toward a return. In fact, Reed will see an independent doctor on Tuesday to check his progress. Whether a subsequent clearance from that visit comes before Sunday remains to be seen, so Vernon Davis and Niles Paul should be readied for expanded roles until further notice.
