Underachieving Browns cornerback Justin Gilbert sustained an apparent hamstring or thigh injury in practice Thursday just as coaches began to compliment him for his recent progress, per the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Gilbert came up limping early in the session and had his upper right leg wrapped. He spent the rest of the portion open to the media standing on the sideline.

Coaches had indicated that Gilbert, who has struggled on and off the field since being taken in the first round of the 2014 draft, might have been in line for some rare playing time in Week 3 against Oakland. It remains to be seen if the latest development precludes him from participating.
