Green (ankle) is eligible to begin practicing this week, but head coach Mike Tomlin said he still hasn't discussed the tight end's availability with the medical staff, Bob Labriola of Steelers.com reports.

Tomlin will likely have that discussion prior to Wednesday's session, as Green said last week he expects to begin practicing when first eligible. Even if Green's expectation holds true, he could be held out of Sunday's game against the Patriots. With the Steelers on bye in Week 8, the tight end seems more likely to return for Week 9 against Baltimore, though his practice status still bears watching.
