Week 11 Fantasy Trade Value Chart
Despite getting a pretty decent workload week after week (at least 15 touches in six of eight games this year), Ray Rice is sporting a 2.5 rushing average and a 4.9 receiving average.
Rice has had under 3.5 yards per carry in every single game this year and under 2.0 yards per carry in each of his last two. He's scored three total touchdowns in two games and has under eight Fantasy points in six matchups this year.
Rice is a nightmare for Fantasy owners because of his ineffective play. My colleague Pete Prisco wrote all about it last week and really hammered home not only how bad his offensive line has been, but also how Rice has missed opportunities be it because he's not as quick as he was or he's just making poor choices after the handoff.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh even owned up to Rice's poor play and said beginning this week the "hot hand" will get more work in the Baltimore offense. Harbaugh also admitted Rice is playing through a hip injury that cost him some time earlier this season.
So ... wanna trade for him?
You'll never get a "name" running back like Rice this cheap again, but all he should do for a Fantasy team right now is provide depth. He's impossible to trust until you see him play well, even this week against a depleted Bears run defense. But if he breaks out and can return to a semblance of the form we've come to know and love, then he'd be the ultimate Fantasy bargain. That would especially come in handy when he plays against the Vikings in Week 14 and the Patriots in Week 16.
The risk in trading for Rice is completely minimal. You might even be able to get him for less than what the chart below suggests. You might even be able to catch him on the waiver wire! I wouldn't trade away anyone vital to my lineup for Rice, but a backup I might not ever start? That's the kind of price tag I can handle, even for a grossly underwhelming running back.
Here are some trades that went down involving Rice in actual CBSSports.com leagues.
Ray Rice for Andre Ellington : Yep, someone traded Rice for a rookie that hardly anyone drafted. And yet, they got a great deal. I'll take a healthy, fast running back on the cusp of becoming a full-timer over a struggling veteran anytime.
Ray Rice and Riley Cooper for Frank Gore : If the Gore owner was desperate for receiving help and is on the cusp of the playoffs, then the two-for-one deal sort of works. Cooper will help the lineup more than Rice in the short-term.
Ray Rice for Tony Gonzalez ; Ray Rice for Trent Richardson : These are the types of rotten trades you'll see more often than not involving Rice, trading disappointing players for ones like them. In the wake of a toe injury for Gonzalez the deal is more fair than not and Richardson is pretty much in the same sinking ship Rice is in.
Our Trade Value Chart is designed to assist you in making fair trades in your standard-scoring or PPR league. The values assigned to the players below are a long-term measurement of their Fantasy value. By adding two players' values you could determine what one player you might be able to get in return. This list should also work as a "Rest of Season" Rankings.
