Weatherspoon (achilles) has been placed on the injured reserve. Weatherspoon was placed on the injured reserve after rupturing his right achilles in Week 4's win over Carolina. The Falcons have signed AJ Hawk to attempt to fill Weatherspoon's shoes at linebacker.
Weatherspoon (achilles) will miss the remainder of the 2016 season, Vaughn McClure of ESPN reports. A Monday morning MRI discovered the worst case scenario for Weatherspoon, a ruptured achilles, and it has now been determined that his recovery process will not be complete until at least the end of the season. The veteran was third on the team with 27 tackles when he exited Sunday's game, so the Falcons will now face the task of replacing his production in the linebacker corps.
Weatherspoon ruptured his right achilles in Sunday's win over Carolina, Vaughn McClure of ESPN reports. Weatherspoon suffered a similar injury prior to the 2014 campaign that forced him to miss the entire season, so this is is not the diagnosis the Falcons were hoping for when Weatherspoon left Week 4's game early with a lower leg injury. A timetable for his recovery has yet to be released, but missing the rest of the 2016 season seems like a very legitimate possibility.
Weatherspoon left Sunday's game in the second half after suffering a calf/achilles injury, Vaughn Mcclure of ESPN reports. Weatherspoon was originally listed as questionable to return but never re-entered the game. He finished with four tackles on the afternoon.
Weatherspoon recorded 10 tackles Monday against the Saints. Weatherspoon now has 19 tackles over his last two games, and is off to a great start in a category he's never surpassed 115 in his six-year career. In his first term with the Falcons, he also intercepted seven passes in his last two full seasons with the team, so it's possible that he moves himself into consideration as fantasy owners if he can string together a couple more solid performances.
