Galette has been suspended for two games for his role in a January off-field incident, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Galette was placed on the Redskins' injured reserve list after tearing his Achilles in August, but his suspension will still apply to the current season. Although he's unable to play, Galette's suspension stemming from a January incident will still cost him two weeks of pay.
Redskins coach Jay Gruden confirmed linebacker Junior Galette will miss the 2015 season after suffering a torn left Achilles in practice Wednesday. He will undergo surgery Friday.
Redskins outside linebacker Junior Galette was carted off the practiced field Wednesday after suffering an apparent injury to his left ankle/foot area, according to the team's official website. Coach Jay Gruden confirmed the news after practice, but he didn't know the severity of the injury. Gruden said he was "very concerned." It appears Gruden's concern is warranted, as ESPN and NFL Network are reporting sources said Galette might have suffered a torn Achilles. If that is the case, then Galette would be sidelined for the 2015 season.
Redskins linebacker Junior Galette is still recovering from a previously injured pectoral muscle, per The Washington Post. Galette suffered the injury during the offseason, but opted to forgo surgery after receiving advice from doctors that the surgery was not necessary. He passed a physical on July 27 and again on July 30 when he signed with the Redskins. I'd say about 75, 80 percent if you calculate it right now," Galette said. "It's tough [being patient], especially for somebody that's as passionate about playing as I am, but it's about when I'm finally comfortable and doing reps that I was doing in the weight room. We're just being cautious. If there was a game next week I'd be able to play, but I'm not. … We just want to be cautious because we can't afford to have any setbacks right now."
The Redskins reached a one-year deal with linebacker Junior Galette on Friday, the team announced. Galette was released by the Saints earlier this week following his January arrest for domestic violence. He totaled 45 tackles and 10 sacks in 16 games last season. Coach Jay Gruden said Galette will be able to participate in Saturday's practice.
