DeOssie signed a two-year extension with the Giants on Friday, James Kratch of NJ.com reports. The long snapper, now 33, has spent his entire career with the Giants and is now one of two remaining players, along with Eli Manning, from both Super Bowl championship teams. He played in all 16 games last season after an injury-plagued 2015 campaign.
The Giants are missing a handful of defensive contributors in Week 6 against the Bears Thursday, but five of eight players listed on the injury report from that side of the ball were able to play. Defensive back Terrell Thomas (knee), defensive linemen Damontre Moore (hamstring) and Linval Joseph (ankle), and linebackers Mark Herzlich (toe) and Zak DeOssie (back) were all able to play through their injuries Thursday.
The Giants listed six players as questionable or probable for Thursday's game in Chicago. They include defensive tackle Linval Joseph (ankle) and receiver Louis Murphy (ankle), who are questionable, and cornerback Terrell Thomas (knee), linebacker Mark Herzlich (toe) and long snapper Zak DeOssie (back), who are probable.
The Sports Xchange reports that LB Zak DeOssie (back) will not be able to participate in two-a-days until he receives approval from the medical staff.
Giants LB Zak DeOssie (back, questionable) was active for Week 2 vs. Green Bay.
