The Browns reached deals with defensive back Aaron Ross and linebacker Everette Brown, the team announced Sunday. In addition to the signings, the team waived offensive lineman Joe Madsen and defensive lineman Christian Tupou.
The Browns continue to keep busy this offseason by adding defensive lineman Christian Tupou and wide receiver Josh Lenz , per Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal. Tupou was previously a member of the Browns' practice squad, while Lenz was released by the Colts earlier this month.
The Browns announced Monday that they have waived kicker Garrett Hartley, along with wide receiver Phil Bates, defensive lineman Christian Tupou and defensive back Varmah Sonie, per the Akron Beacon Journal. Hartley was signed by the Browns prior to Week 15 last season and was 3-for-3 in his only field goal attempts. Prior to that, he played for six seasons with the Saints.
With Johnny Manziel (hamstring) sidelined for the season finale and Brian Hoyer's (shoulder, bicep) status up in the air, the Browns signed quarterback Tyler Thigpen, according to CBSSports.com Jason La Canfora on Tuesday. The team announced the move, waiving fullback Ray Agnew and signed defensive lineman Christian Tupou to the practice squad. If Hoyer is unable to play, the Browns could turn to Connor Shaw Week 17 against Baltimore. According to La Canfora, Thigpen will be the No. 2 quarterback if Hoyer can't play. Thigpen played with the Browns in the preseason before getting cut on Aug. 12. He has not made an appearance since 2012 with the Bills, and has not made a start since 2010 with the Dolphins.
The Cardinals signed defensive tackle Christian Tupou, running back Dominique Williams and receiver Kevin Cone to their practice squad.
