The Ravens have not given Flacco much help through the first week of free agency, ESPN.com reports. Already losing wide receiver Steve Smith to retirement, the Ravens also lost starting right tackle Ricky Wagner (Lions) and starting center Jeremy Zuttah (49ers) without adding new pieces or having obvious replacements on the current roster. Baltimore has instead focused on rebuilding its defensive backfield, which might be wise from a team perspective but doesn't bode well for Flacco's 2017 prospects. The offensive line currently stands as the biggest question mark, with the wideout group also looking like a potential weakness. The Ravens did add pass-catching back Danny Woodhead (knee), who is 33 years old and currently rehabbing a torn ACL. They'll likely will address their offense during the upcoming draft, but it's always a sketchy proposition to expect major immediate contributions from rookies. The team may also look to the bargain bin of free agency, as it has often done successfully in the past.
Flacco completed 32 of 49 passes for 267 yards and an interception in Sunday's 27-10 loss to the Bengals. Flacco set a Ravens franchise record with 4,317 passing yards, but had a pedestrian 20:15 touchdown to interception ratio and 8-8 record to go with the impressive yardage total. He will likely lose wide receiver Steve Smith to retirement this offseason, which will make topping 4,000 yards in 2017 difficult for a quarterback who had failed to reach that mark in any of his first eight professional seasons prior to this one.
Flacco completed 30 of 44 passes for 262 yards with a touchdown and interception in Sunday's 31-27 loss to the Steelers. Flacco was certainly serviceable enough in what turned out to be a high-scoring affair, hitting nine different pass catchers on the afternoon and reviving his connection with TE Dennis Pitta, who he connected with the most. The veteran signal-caller put up over 40 pass attempts for the third time in the last four games, and bounced back with a solid 68.2 completion percentage after barely completing half his passes against the Eagles in Week 15. Flacco also notched a touchdown pass for the eighth straight game, but his production wasn't enough to prevent the Ravens from being eliminated from playoff contention courtesy of a spectacular late touchdown by Antonio Brown. Despite the disappointing outcome, Flacco will try to finish off his ninth season in positive fashion when Baltimore takes on the Bengals in Week 17.
Flacco completed 16 of 30 passes for 206 yards, two touchdowns, and a pick in Sunday's win over the Eagles. He also lost a fumble during the contest. Flacco got the Ravens on the board early with a rifled touchdown pass to Kamar Aiken and then struck again just before half time - laying up a 34-yard bomb to Steve Smith Sr. The rest of the game wasn't as kind for Flacco, who threw a costly pick in the fourth quarter that kept Philly in the game. Flacco's trouble earlier in the season was a lack of big plays, with just two multi-touchdown games in his first 11 outings. He has now thrown for eight scores in his last three games, but turnovers continue to be an issue - with three picks and a fumble during that span.
Flacco completed 37 of 52 passes for 324 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Monday night's loss to the Patriots. Flacco broke the Ravens' single-game completions record he set last week by connecting on one more throw Monday, but his 37 successful passes didn't do all that much damage. While Flacco's 324 yards look good, his average of 6.23 yards per attempt marked his lowest in six games. Although he also threw an interception, giving him a turnover in three straight games, Flacco still led Baltimore's second-half comeback effort with two touchdown passes during the third quarter. Now with six scores through the air across his past couple outings, Flacco sports good momentum heading into a favorable matchup at home versus the Eagles this Sunday.
