Mauti (illness) will undergo a procedure related to his illness and will miss a significant amount of time, Josh Katzenstein of NOLA.com reports. No specifics on the illness have been released but news of the procedure combined with Mauti's placement on the reserve/non-football injury list Monday does not bode well for the linebacker's status the remainder of the season. Look for more updates to come as the team updates the situation. In the meantime, newly signed linebacker Sam Barrington is expected to have an expanded role on the defense.
The Saints placed Mauti (illness) on this reserve/non-football injury list Monday, Adam Caplan of ESPN reports. Mauti missed Sunday's loss to the Broncos due to an illness. Not much was known about the illness at the time, but his placement on the NFI list is certainly not a positive sign. Expect an update on his status when the team releases more information.
Mauti (illness) will not play Sunday against the 49ers, NOLA.com reports. Mauti, the Saints' starting middle linebacker with James Laurinaitis (quadriceps) now shelved on injured reserve, wasn't able to participate in any practice this week. In turn, Sam Barrington projects to draw the start.
The Vikings listed cornerback Shaun Prater, running back Jerick McKinnon, fullback Zach Line, linebacker Michael Mauti, linebacker Brandon Watts, guard David Yankey and tackle J'Marcus Webb as inactive for Week 13 against the Panthers.
The Vikings have listed RB Matt Asiata, FB Zach Line, LB Michael Mauti, LB Brandon Watts, G David Yankey, G Austin Wentworth and DT Sharrif Floyd as inactive Week 12 against the Packers. Asiata was the only player ruled out prior to Sunday. He's dealing with a concussion. Floyd was listed as questionable. He has a knee issue. The other five players listed are healthy scratches.
