The Giants signed wideout Juron Criner to their practice squad. He made 19 catches for the Raiders the past two seasons.
Wideout Juron Criner and quarterback Trent Edwards were among those cut by the Raiders on Tuesday, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.
The Raiders' initial depth chart lists receiver James Jones on the second team, behind starters Rod Streater and Andre Holmes. Greg Little joins Jones on the second team. Denarius Moore and Juron Criner are the third-string wideouts. Jones had a career-high 817 receiving yards last year with the Packers. He's caught 24 touchdown passes over the past three seasons.
Third-year receiver Juron Criner made an acrobatic catch on a long throw Saturday and "again flashed why the Raiders staff is so intrigued by him," reports ESPN.com. Criner has played in 13 career games, making 19 catches for 183 yards and a touchdown. "He's a big receiver that has big hands, strong hands, and can go up and make a play in a contested environment, and those are the flashes that you see out of Juron," coach Dennis Allen said. "The question is, can he do it on a consistent basis and can he stay injury free? If he's able to do that, then he's a talented football player."
Raiders receiver Juron Criner did not participate in practice Monday due to a hamstring injury, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Criner is looking to make a case to move up the depth charts this preseason. He caught just three passes for 32 yards in one game in 2013.
