Eagles kicker Caleb Sturgis converted all four of his field goal attempts and three of his four extra point attempts in Sunday's 39-17 win over the Saints. Despite missing an extra point in two straight games, Sturgis looked much better in his second game with the Eagles. It likely helped that the stakes weren't nearly as high, with three of his field goals coming in the second half after the Eagles' lead had ballooned to multiple scores. Head coach Chip Kelly said Monday that the team is sticking with Sturgis as their kicker moving forward.
Eagles kicker Caleb Sturgis missed a 33-yard field goal and one of two extra points in Sunday's loss to Washington. As far as debuts go, Sturgis's could have gone better. He missed four points' worth of kicks in a game that the Eagles lost by three, a brutal beginning to his tenure in Philadelphia. With kicker turnover on the rise recently, Sturgis's job could be in jeopardy this week, and he's definitely a player to avoid picking up until his job is officially secure for Sunday's game against New Orleans.
The Eagles have placed kicker Cody Parkey (groin) on injured reserve, according to FOX Sports. Parkey, who suffered a groin injury during warmups before Sunday's win over the Jets, will be replaced by former Dolphins kicker Caleb Sturgis, who was beaten out in training camp by Andrew Franks for the placekicking job.
Veteran kicker Caleb Sturgis , who the Dolphins cut last week, will work out for the Saints on Tuesday, according to The Times-Picayune. Sturgis made 29 of 37 field goals for Miami last season and was a perfect 41 of 41 on extra-point attempts.
Rookie kicker Andrew Franks has won the kicking competition for the Dolphins, reports the Palm Beach Post. Franks beat out Caleb Sturgis, who was released.
