The Panthers waived tight end D.C. Jefferson (toe) off injured reserve Tuesday. The move comes less than a week after the NFL suspended Jefferson four games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, per ESPN.
The Panthers placed quarterback Matt Blanchard, tight end D.C. Jefferson and offensive lineman Kevin Matthews on injured reserve, ending their seasons. Receiver De'Andre Presley was placed on reserve/PUP, meaning he's ineligible for the first six games.
The Panthers signed their entire practice squad to reserve/futures contracts, reports the Charlotte Observer. The squad consists of wideout Brenton Bersin, quarterback Matt Blanchard, linebacker Ben Jacobs, guard Michael Jasper, tight end D.C. Jefferson, offensive tackle Andrew McDonald, cornerback DeAndre Presley and defensive end Craig Roh.
