Jarrett Boykin signed with the Bills in January, and he will look to make the final roster in 2016 as a reserve receiver. Boykin didn't play in 2015 after being cut by the Panthers and has just 57 catches for 731 yards and three touchdowns during his four-year career. Even if he makes the final roster in Buffalo he should not be drafted in the majority of leagues.
Boykin was signed as a free agent Tuesday, BuffaloBills.com reports. Given all the injuries the Panthers had to their wide receiving group this past season, Boykin might have made some strides in a productive Cam Newton offense. But he got cut late in camp, and now he'll have some work to do to even gain a spot with the Bills. He does have one very nice season (49/681/3) under his belt, and he did play in college with Bills quarterback Tyro Taylor.
The Panthers reached the NFL's 75-man limit Tuesday thanks to a series of moves, including placing star wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin on the season-ending injured reserve list with a knee injury, per a team release. Carolina waived WR Jarrett Boykin, DT Kenny Horsley, S Robert Lester and WR De'Andre Presley, placed OT Davonte Wallace and CB Melvin White on the waived/injured list and reached an injury settlement with DT Micanor Regis.
The Panthers signed free agent wide receiver Jarrett Boykin to a one-year deal Friday, per David Newton of ESPN.com. The 25-year-old receiver had a big campaign with the Packers in 2013, catching 49 passes for 681 yards, but fell out of favor last season, grabbing just three balls for 23 yards in 13 games. Boykin has 57 career receptions in three seasons, all with the Packers.
Former Packers wide receiver Jarrett Boykin is set to visit the Panthers, per Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. Boykin, 25, had a career-year in 2013 with 49 receptions for 681 yards and three touchdowns. Although he played in 13 games last season, he was only targeted 12 times, catching three passes for 23 yards.
The Packers didn not tender a contract to wide receiver Jarrett Boykin before the league year began Tuesday, making him a free agent, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Boykin lost the third-receiver role to rookie Davante Adams last season, and the team re-upped with Randall Cobb this past weekend. Boykin was limited to just three receptions and 23 yards last season after grabbing 49 passes for 681 yards and three touchdowns in 2013.
