The Houston Texans won't allow Derek Newton to test the free agent market. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Houston locked up the right tackle to a five-year, $26.5 million deal with $13.75 million guaranteed, just two days before the start of the free agency period.
Newton, 27, started 46 games over the last three seasons. He received the highest run-block grade among any right tackles last season, according to Pro Football Focus.SEE FULL ARTICLE
Houston Texans guard Brandon Brooks suffered a left ankle injury and had to leave Sunday’s game against the Ravens.

The Houston Texans enter their Week 14 clash against the Jaguars relatively healthy, with 13 of 16 players on the final injury report deemed probable. Safety Danieal Manning (hamstring) was the only player on the report deemed questionable, while tight end Garrett Graham (ankle) and outside linebacke Jadeveon Clowney (knee) were ruled out. Clowney's disappointing rookie season has come to an end this week, as the team placed him on season-ending injured reserve and will undergo another surgery on his right knee.

Houston Texans linebacker Jadeveon Clowney (knee) is listed as questionable to play in Monday's Week 7 battle with the Steelers after limited in practice for a second straight day Saturday.
Clowney hasn't played since Week 1 while recovering from knee surgery. Linebacker Mike Mohamed (calf) is also questionable to play afer being limited all week. Cornerback Darryl Morris (anke) has been ruled out.
