The 49ers have waived/injured linebacker Chase Thomas, the team announced Monday. Thomas made two special-teams tackles in five games played with the 49ers last season. He tore an ACL while working out earlier in the offseason and will presumably miss the entire 2015 season.
Linebacker Chase Thomas of the 49ers has torn his ACL during an offseason workout, according to sfgate.com. The team recently lost both Patrick Willis and Chris Borland of the linebacking corps to retirement. The 25-year-old played in five games last year, registering three total tackles.
The 49ers put tight end Derek Carrier (foot) on injured reserve and released linebacker Chase Thomas. In corresponding moves, the team activated tight end Garrett Celek from short-term IR and promoted tight end Asante Cleveland from the practice squad.
The 49ers are promoting linebacker Chase Thomas to the active roster in advance of Sunday's Week 10 matchup with the Saints, the Sacramento Bee reports. Thomas will give San Francisco a fourth outside linebacker for the game with Dan Skuta (ankle) sidelined.
