Dareus (knee) is active Sunday against the Chiefs. Dareus put in three limited practices this week and will be in the lineup at nose tackle, as expected. His presence will make things a bit more difficult against the Chiefs rushing attack.
Dareus, who suffered a minor knee injury during Monday's loss to New England, practiced on a limited basis Friday and is listed as probable for Sunday's game in Kansas City. The Bills were thought to have the NFL's best defensive line entering the season, but two of the four guys will miss this week's game - Kyle Williams is out for the season and Mario Williams will miss this week - while collectively the unit has struggled to embrace Rex Ryan's new defense. Dareus and Jerry Hughes will be counted on for production in what looks like to be a pseudo playoff game for the 5-5 Bills.
Dareus, who suffered a minor knee injury during Monday's loss to New England, was able to practice on a limited basis Wednesday. The team's comments this week lean toward their star interior lineman playing in a key matchup against the Chiefs. Dareus may be counted on more than ever, with Kyle Williams unable to play this week and Mario Williams in question and the Bills at risk of falling behind in one of two wild card spots.
Dareus missed Tuesday's practice for a personal reason, Joe Buscaglia of WKBW reports. Dareus is expected back when the team picks up practice Thursday. He'll be needed this week - perhaps badly - with Kyle Williams not likely to return from a knee injury while the Bills never seem to have any luck stopping Tom Brady and the Patriots. (Does anyone?) Dareus, like most of his other defensive line teammates, just can't seem to get to the quarterback this season, as he's picked up just two sacks through eight games as opposed to 10 in 2014. At least he's still getting his tackles, with 26 so far and three or more in every game but two this season.
Dareus, suspended for the first game of the season, has 18 tackles and a sack through five games played. Unless Dareus gets going, there's going to be a pretty steep drop-off from his 10-sack total in a super 2014 season. At least he's getting decent tackles for an interior lineman again, though the entire Buffalo defense is struggling to get to opposing quarterbacks this season. That's more a result of the team not adapting well to Rex Ryan's new defense, as no one can argue the talent of Dareus, Mario Williams, Jerry Hughes, and until he got hurt, Kyle Williams.
