McGee was waived by the Lions on Tuesday. McGee didn't quite survive long enough to be a part of the 75-man roster, while the Lions have four clear top options at cornerback in Darius Slay, Nevin Lawson, Quan Diggs, and Darrin Walls. The team could bring back McGee sometime during the regular season if injuries occur and they need additional depth.
McGee signed a contract with the Lions on Tuesday, MLive.com reports. The Lions seem comfortable entering the 2016 campaign with Darius Slay, Nevin Lawson, Quan Diggs and Darrin Walls serving as their top four cornerbacks, but the signing of McGee, at the expense of the recently-waived Keith Williams, may signal the team is unsure of the depth behind them. Johnson Bademosi, Crezdon Butler and Alex Carter figure to join McGee as the primary competition for what may ultimately be one or two roster spots.
The Rams placed cornerback Brandon McGee (foot) on injured reserve Saturday. He hasn't played since Week 2 and will miss the remainder of the season with the injury. The team promoted defensive back Jemea Thomas from the practice squad to fill the open roster spot. He has yet to play in a regular-season game this season.
Cornerbacks Janoris Jenkins and Trumaine Johnson are questionable with knee injuries, according to the injury report released Friday by the Rams for their Sunday game at Kansas City. The only other non-probables are defensive back Brandon McGee (foot) and center Tim Barnes (shoulder). Both have been ruled out. Deemed probable are wideout Kenny Britt (ankle), running back Benny Cunningham (knee), linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar (toe), defensive linemen Ethan Westbrooks (hand) and William Hayes (illness), safety T.J. McDonald (concussion), tackle Rodger Saffold (knee) and kicker Greg Zuerlein (illness).
Linebacker Brandon McGee (knee) is the lone Buccaneers player ruled out for the Sunday game against Minnesota. Cornerback Johnthan Banks (neck) is the only teammate on the Friday injury report not deemed questionable. That group includes linebacker Jonathan Casillas (hamstring), tackle Anthony Collins (knee), safety Dashon Goldson (ankle), wide receiver Vincent Jackson (rib), quarterback Josh McCown (thumb) and defensive back Keith Tandy (hamstring. Goldson and McCown both went from limited in practice to full participation Friday. Jackson has been limited throughout.
