Shipley and Ryan Jensen, tight end Phillip Supernaw, quarterback Keith Wenning and running back Fitzgerald Toussaint. Those on defense include defensive backs Dominique Franks, Derek Cox, Tramain Jacobs and Sammy Seamster, linebacker John Simon and linemen Jamie Meder and A.J. Pataiali'i. The team also placed wide receiver Jeremy Butler on injured reserve.
Ravens outside linebacker John Simon is working on his coverage skills in hopes of expanding his role from special teams to defense. Simon, the former Big Ten Conference Player of the Year, rarely was asked to drop back in coverage at Ohio State. "Just playing in space was big for me in the offseason," the second-year pro told the Baltimore Sun. "Every day, I did something to work on that. I think it's showing out there on the field. I can feel myself making progress. "Absolutely, that was a big emphasis for me this offseason and something I really strived to excel at and make one of my weaknesses a strength. I think things are going in the right direction." Simon made four solo tackles on special teams last year.
