The Buccaneers have re-signed defensive ends Larry English and Lawrence Sidbury in addition to tight end Luke Stocker and linebacker Jason Williams, the team has announced. All four were set to become free agents Tuesday. Stocker was the only player of the four to not sign a one-year deal, getting a three-year extension with the team. Stocker played 13 games in 2014, totaling seven catches for 41 yards.
The Buccaneers have re-signed safety Major Wright. They also re-signed defensive end Larry English and linebacker Jason Williams. Wright, going into his sixth season in the NFL, tallied 51 total tackles last year, while starting seven games at strong safety. English, a former first-round selection of the Chargers in 2009, tallied one sack and one forced fumble in his first campaign with the team last year. Williams was signed after Brandon Magee was placed on injured reserve last year. He only saw action in three games in 2014.
The Buccaneers have placed linebacker Brandon Magee on injured reserve after suffering a pectoral injury in Sunday's loss to the Lions. To replace him, the Bucs signed Jason Williams, who was relased by the Panthers last week. Magee had seven tackles in nine games for the Bucs this season.
The Panthers waived linebacker Jason Williams, reports ESPN.com. He appeared in 11 games, making four tackles.
The Panthers will have both Nate Chandler and Jason Williams available Week 9 against the Saints. Chandler is dealing with a thigh injury, but was considered probable heading into the game. Williams has a hip issue, but was also expected to play.
