Allen has been released by the Steelers. Allen missed all of last season after suffering a knee injury in Week 1, but his release also comes after he signed a lucrative four-year extension with Pittsburgh in 2014. Now a free agent, Allen's absence further ensures the Steelers will address the cornerback position through the draft.
Allen (knee) finished the season on injured reserve. Allen played in just one game this season, totaling six tackles (three solo) in Week 1. Assuming he is healthy next season, he may find himself behind William Gay and Antwon Blake, who is an unrestricted free agent, on the depth chart, which would limit his fantasy value in IDP formats.
Allen (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Ralph Paulk of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. Allen hasn't been able to play since Week 1, so his questionable status is certainly an improvement over previous weeks. That being said, Allen will likely fill-in as a third or fourth corner back if he plays, so his fantasy value will likely be limited in IDP leagues until he can regain a starting role.
Steelers cornerback Cortez Allen (knee) was limited at practice Wednesday, per Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Allen hasn't been able to play since Week 1 and at this point, seems to be a major question mark for the Sunday game against the Chiefs. More information should be available later in the week.
Allen (knee) is listed as inactive Sunday against the Cardinals, the Steelers' official site reports. The Steelers will be without a number of key members of the regular defense, including Allen, Will Allen (ankle), Ryan Shazier (shoulder), and Jarvis Jones (hip). Without Cortez Allen, Brandon Boykin and Doran Grant are in line for some snaps at cornerback.
