The Lions have worked out veteran running backs Tashard Choice and Alex Green, according to ESPN. Choice has played for four teams in six seasons and has rushed for 1,579 yards on 373 carries for a 4.2 YPC average. Green has appeared in 29 games over three seasons with Green Bay and the New York Jets and has run for 510 yards on 149 carries for a 3.4 YPC mark.
The Jets have cut their roster down to 53 by waiving a number of players. Those on offense are quarterback Tajh Boyd and Matt Simms, wide receivers Clyde Gates and Stephen Hill, running backs Daryl Richardson and Alex Green, tight end Chris Pantale, linemen Brent Qvale and Caleb Schlauderaff. The defenders imclude defensive backs Rontez Miles, Jeremy Reeves, Johnny Patrick, Dimitri Patterson and Brandon Dixon, linemen Zach Thompson, Kerry Hyder and Tevita Finau and linebackers Garrett McIntyre and A.J. Edds. Linebacker Antwan Barnes has been placed on the PUP list.

With Chris Johnson getting rest and Chris Ivory out with a rib injury, Jets reserve running back Alex Green got a lot of reps with the first-team offense at practice Saturday, ESPN.com reports. Green led the team with 29 yards on seven carries in the preseason opener against the Colts Thursday as he battles for a backup job.
