Morgan was released by the Ravens on Monday, ESPN's Adam Caplan reports. Known as a deep threat, Morgan didn't get a shot to use his speed in Baltimore, with the team preferring Chris Givens and Jeremy Butler behind top wideout Kamar Aiken. It isn't a great sign for Morgan's future that he was released by a team with minimal healthy talent at his position.
Morgan will sign with the Ravens, Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports. Morgan, a speedy receiver who was recently cut by the Saints, will provide the Ravens with a deep-play threat in the wake of Steve Smith's season-ending Achilles injury. In 21 career NFL games, Morgan has hauled in 14 receptions for 471 yards and three touchdowns. It's unclear how much playing time he'll receive right out of the gate, while from a fantasy standpoint Kamar Aiken remains the receiver to be owned in Baltimore.
Wide receiver Joseph Morgan re-signed with the Saints on Wednesday and, according to head coach Sean Payton, he will "have a role" in Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, reports Mike Triplett of ESPN.com. How much Morgan actually plays is up in the air, but based on Payton's comments, it appears that the speedy receiver could be used to spell top receiver Brandin Cooks. Morgan is certainly familiar with Drew Brees and the Saints' offense, so there should not be any acclimation period. However it remains a question whether he will see enough playing time to make a fantasy impact. Still, even with only limited snaps, Morgan has the sort of big-play capabilities that could make him useful in daily fantasy formats.
Saints coach Sean Payton said wide receiver Joe Morgan will play and have a role in Sunday's game against the Bucs after he rejoined the team Wednesday, according to ESPN.com. "I think he provides great speed on the outside," Payton said of Morgan. "And that's something that from a game-plan standpoint, if you're just running (Brandin) Cooks vertical, then at some point he gets tired. So I think having Joe, there's another element of speed, he's a very physical player, takes pride in blocking. So he'll have a role in this game. He'll play in this game."
The Saints have re-signed wide receiver Joseph Morgan to a one-year deal, according to the Times-Picayune. Morgan was waived in December following a suspension due to unspecified reasons. "A lot of people been saying it's my off-field issues or whatever, I'm not a troubled guy, Sean even told me that in the meeting I had with him. It's nothing to do with the off-field issues, it was basically the team making a decision based off what they like and they are making plans for the future and unfortunately I wasn't a part of that," Morgan said in December. In 19 games over four seasons with the Saints, Morgan has registered 14 receptions for 471 yards and three touchdowns.
