The Steelers announced their final round of cuts to trim the roster to 53 players Saturday, as they parted ways with 22 players. The Steelers released defensive backs Isaiah Green, Dayonne Nunley, Shaquille Richardson and Ross Ventrone, linebackers Chris Carter, Howard Jones and Dan Molls, and defensive linemen Ethan Hemer, Josh Mauro, Roy Philon and Nick Williams on the defensive side of the ball. On offense, the team cut tight ends Rob Blanchflower, Bryce Davis and David Paulson, running backs Josh Harris and Stephen Houston, wide receivers Derek Moye and Lanear Sampson, offensive linemen Graham Pocic, Will Simmons and Guy Whimper, and quarter Brendon Kay.
Steelers rookie tight end Rob Blanchflower has a high ankle sprain that will keep him out at least a week, coach Mike Tomlin told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Blanchflower is a seventh-round pick out of UMass.
The Steelers added some depth in the receiving corps in the seventh round of the draft, selecting tight end Rob Blanchflower out of the University of Massechusetts 230th overall.
