The Chiefs released receivers Jerrell Jackson, Darryl Surgent, Deon Anthony and Weston Dressler, defensive tackle Jermelle Cudjo, defensive lineman Jairus Campbell, guard Otis Hudson, cornerbacks Brandon Jones and Vernon Kearney, safety Jerron McMillian and tight end Adam Schiltz.
The Packers signed running back Kahlil Bell and released safety Jerron McMillian, reports the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Several Packers who were probable on the injury report are active for the game at Minnesota. They include cornerback Jarrett Bush (hamstring) and safety Jerron McMillian ( not injury-related).
The Packers have six players on the injury report for Week 8 against the Vikings from the defensive side of the ball, and only one has been ruled out at this point. While the team will definitely be without linebacker Clay Matthews (thumb), a pair of other linebackers still have a chance to play: Nick Perry (foot) and Brad Jones (hamstring) are both questionable for Sunday's game. Defensive backs Jarrett Bush (hamstring), Casey Hayward (hamstring) and Jerron McMillian (personal) are all probable and expected to play.
With Morgan Burnett's return date unknown, the Packers could be counting on safeties M.D. Jennings and Jerron McMillian to start in the season opener against the 49ers, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Burnett left Friday's preseason game against the Seahawks with a hamstring injury. "We both know what we're doing," said McMillian, who was competing with Jennings for starting strong safety job before Burnett was hurt. "That's the key and we have to both be communicating."
