Robinson (shoulder) was cut by the Panthers on Tuesday, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports. Robinson had been dealing with a shoulder injury stemming from the Panthers' second preseason game against the Titans. Kurt Coleman and Tre Boston figure to lead the way at safety moving forward.
Robinson (shoulder) left Saturday's preseason game against Tennessee and is questionable to return, Max Henson of the team's official site reports. Just moments after fellow secondary teammate Travell Dixon left the game with a chest injury the news of Robinson's injury emerged. Carolina does not know the severity of the injury and have not ruled out a possible return to the team's contest. In the meantime, with both Dixon and Robinson on the sideline, Marcus Ball and Colin Jones will likely see increased playing time.
The Panthers and Robinson (hamstring) agreed to a one-year contract Monday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports. A sixth-round pick of the 49ers in 2012, Robinson spent the last three seasons with Washington, developing into a competent starting safety. Among nine appearances last year, he earned eight nods, racking up 52 tackles (34 solo) and one interception before landing on IR due to a hamstring injury. Upon landing in Carolina, he fills a clear need and will likely slot in at strong safety next to Kurt Coleman in a play-making defense.
Robinson was waived/injured by Washington on Friday, Washington Post writer Master Tesfatsion reports. If Robinson goes unclaimed on waivers, he would land on Washington's IR. He was providing depth and special teams snaps behind Dashon Goldson and Kyshoen Jarrett.
Robinson has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Giants. Jeron Johnson figures to get another start alongside Dashon Goldson, with Kyshoen Jarrett providing depth. Robinson hasn't played since Week 9.
