The Vikings waived five players Thursday in order to reach the roster limit, per the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The players involved are safety Ahmad Dixon, running back Henry Josey, tight end Ryan Otten, offensive tackle Antonio Richardson and guard Austin Wentworth.
The Vikings declared safety Ahmad Dixon, cornerback Shaun Prater, running back Henry Josey, linebackers Chad Greenway and Brandon Watts, offensive tackle Carter Bykowski and guard David Yankey inactive for the game against Chicago.
The Vikings listed tight end Kyle Rudolph as inactive Sunday at Miami. Rudolph was listed as doubtful with a knee and ankle injury. Other inactive players included safety Ahmad Dixon, cornerback Shaun Prater, fullback Zach Line, linebacker Anthony Barr, tackle Carter Bykowski and guard Charlie Johnson. The Vikings are 4 1/2-point underdogs.
The Vikings elevated safety Ahmad Dixon to the active roster, reports 1500ESPN.com. "He's a guy to look at for a possibility in the future," coach Mike Zimmer said. "He looked pretty good on special teams."
The Vikings announced several roster moves prior to Sunday's game against the Jets. The team placed rookie back Jerick McKinnon on injured reserve and elevated defensive end Justin Trattou from the practice squad. The team also added safety Ahmad Dixon to the practice squad.
