The Redskins have waived center Kevin Kowalski among other players, a source has told the Washington Times. Kowalski played 11 games for Dallas in 2011, but has not taken an NFL snap since. Also let go by the Redskins are defensive backs Da'Mon Cromartie-Smith and Richard Crawford and center Tevita Stevens.
The Redskins added defensive back Da'Mon Cromartie-Smith as a free agent Saturday, after waiving Peyton Thompson . Per the team's official release, details of the deal have not been announced. Cromartie-Smith spent the 2013 season with the Steelers, appearing in four games and recording one tackle.
What was suspected on Wednesday was confirmed on Thursday: safety Will Allen is back with Pittsburgh. He played for the Steelers from 2010 to 2012 before leaving for Dallas, which cut him this week. Allen has only been a starter sporadically during his NFL career, which included a six-year stint in Tampa Bay. But he played in nearly every game for the Steelers during his time there. The Steelers are expected to release Da'mon Cromartie-Smith to make room on the roster for Allen, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
