Walls has agreed to terms with the Lions, ESPN's Michael Rothstein reports. The contract is a one-year, minimum-salary deal. Through five seasons in the league, the undrafted Notre Dame product has accrued 75 tackles (11 on special teams), as well as 22 pass breakups and three picks across 54 games, including 16 starts. In 2011, Walls spent his rookie year with Atlanta, then joined the Jets the next season where he looked to be an ascending talent, as his stats increased year-to-year from 2012 to 2014. However, the Jets welcomed back CB Darrelle Revis in 2015 and Walls didn't manage a single start throughout the entire campaign. Subsequently, Walls' production fell off a cliff, and the Jets decided against keeping him in the fold. Now with the Lions, he'll compete for a starting gig following the retirement of Rashean Mathis, though Walls will likely prove to be a depth signing and special teams contributor.
Jets tight end Zach Sudfeld and cornerback Darrin Walls were held out of Thursday's OTA session because of injuries, the team announced. Sudfeld is dealing with a knee injury and coach Todd Bowles said Sudfeld is undergoing tests on the knee and he said it may be more than a minor injury, reports ESPNNewYork.com. Meanwhile, a toe injury prevented Walls from participating Thursday.
Jets wide receiver Percy Harvin (rib) and center Nick Mangold (ankle) are the most notable players listed as questionable for Sunday's season finale at Miami. Defensive lineman Damon Harrison (illness), safety Jaiquawn Jarrett (shoulder), safety Dawan Landry (illness), cornerback Darrin Walls (shoulder) and defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson (toe, illness) joined Mangold and Harvin as questionable for Sunday. Meanwhile, the following players were deemed probable: Safety Antonio Allen (hand), guard Willie Colon (knee), kicker Nick Folk (right hip), running back Chris Ivory (hamstring) and running back Chris Johnson (knee). Safety Rontez Miles (shin) was the only player on New York's final injury report of the season ruled out for Sunday.
All the Jets who were probable on the injury report are active for Monday's game against the Bills in Detroit. The list includes running backs Chris Ivory (shoulder) and Chris Johnson (knee), guard Oday Aboushi (shoulder), linebacker Antwan Barnes (knee), guard Willie Colon (knee), wideout T.J. Graham (neck), linebacker David Harris (shoulder), safety Jaiquawn Jarrett (calf), center Nick Mangold (shoulder), linebacker Trevor Reilly (knee), receiver Greg Salas (wrist), cornerback Darrin Walls (calf) and quarterback Geno Smith (right shoulder).
Following a bye week, the Jets appear well rested heading into Week 12. The Jets listed offensive lineman Oday Aboushi (shoulder), wide receiver Eric Decker (hamstring), wide receiver Greg Salas (wrist), running back Chris Ivory (shoulder), running back Chris Johnson (knee), wide receiver T.J. Graham (neck), offensive lineman Willie Colon (knee), center Nick Mangold (shoulder), linebacker Antwan Barnes (knee), defensive back Darrin Walls (calf) and defensive back Jaiquawn Jarrett (calf) as probable for Monday night's game against Buffalo.
