Richardson has signed a reserve/future contract with the Steelers. Richardson thus joins the team's backup RB depth corps behind Le'Veon Bell, with DeAngelo Williams and Fitzgerald Toussaint also under contract with the team for the 2016 season.
Richardson was released by the Browns on Tuesday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Richardson spent a couple of weeks with the team to help with depth, but he still hasn't appeared in a regular-season game since 2013. A former seventh-round draft pick, he shouldn't have much trouble finding a team that will let him compete for a back-end roster spot in training camp next season.
Richardson signed with the Browns on Tuesday. A seventh-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Richardson hasn't appeared in a regular-season game since the end of 2013. With Glenn Winston (concussion) looking shaky for Week 15, Richardson could serve as the No. 3 running back behind Isaiah Crowell and Duke Johnson. It's not a role that would necessarily include any offensive snaps or touches.
Richardson was released from Houston's practice squad, the Houston Chronicle reports. The Texans needed the room when they added defensive end Steven Means to the practice squad.
The Jets lost three players to concussions and three others to an assortment of injuries in Friday's preseason game against Atlanta, per ESPN. Wide receiver Jeremy Kerley, safety Durell Eskridge and running back Daryl Richardson all left with concussions. Offensive tackle Ben Ijalana left the game with a knee injury. Shaq Evans sprained his back, and Sashaun Phillips hurt his ribs.
