The Buccaneers waived defensive tackle Matthew Masifilo, who made his NFL debut Sunday at Cleveland, reports the Tampa Bay Times.
The Buccaneers officially activated running back Charles Sims from the short-term injured reserve Saturday, per the team's official website. With Doug Martin likely to sit out with an ankle injury, Sims could split some work with Bobby Rainey during his season debut against the Browns. The Bucs also waived wide receiver/kick returner Trindon Holliday, along with promoting wide receiver Marcus Thigpen and defensive tackle Matthew Masifilo from the practice squad.
Safety Mark Barron (hamstring) and linebacker Dekoda Watson are two of the injured Buccaneers on the Sunday inactive report. Others on the list are linebacker Ka'Lial Glaud, defensive tackle Matthew Masifilo, guard Carl Nicks, running back Lonnie Pryor and defensive end Scott Solomon.
Among the Buccaneers inactives for Week 16 against the Rams, three are sidelined as a result of injuries. Offensive lineman Carl Nicks (foot), defensive lineman Da'Quan Bowers (knee) and defensive back Mark Barron (hamstring) headline the team's inactive list. Additionally, linebacker Danny Lansanah, defensive lineman Matthew Masifilo , running back Lonnie Pryor and offensive lineman Patrick Omameh are all out of uniform Sunday.
The Buccaneers promoted defensive lineman Matthew Masifilo from the practice squad Saturday. Masofilo has yet to appear in an NFL game in two seasons.
