Fort re-signed with the Steelers Tuesday. After being released four days ago, the linebacker will rejoin the team after Steven Johnson (ankle) was placed on injured reserve. Fort should add some much needed linebacker depth to the Steelers, but figures to play primarily on special teams as he has done all season.
Fort was released by Pittsburgh on Saturday, Dale Lolley of the Observer-Reporter reports. Fort was released in order to clear a roster spot for Ladarius Green. Little more than a depth linebacker, his absence shouldn't impact the defense much at all.
The Patriots announced they have signed four players Tuesday: linebackers L.J. Fort and Cameron Gordon, fullback Eric Kettani and defensive lineman A.J. Pataiali'l . Gordon and Kettani have both previously spent time with the Patriots, while Fort was on the practice squads of the Seahawks and Bengals in 2014. Pataiali'l was on both the Ravens and Browns practice squads last season.
After a tryout Monday, linebacker L.J. Fort signed with the Patriots on Tuesday, per the Boston Globe. Fort has played with four NFL teams, most recently the Bengals and Seahawks, for whom he appeared in one game last season. He has 20 career tackles and one interception, all of which came for the Browns in 2012.
The Bengals waived linebacker L.J. Fort on Wednesday, who spent his time on the team's practice squad after being signed last season, per the Cincinnati Enquirer. Fort played in one game for the Seahawks in 2014 and appeared in all 16 games with the Browns in 2012.
