Jones caught three of four targets for 42 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-23 win over the Jets. Jones tied for the team lead in catches while leading them in receiving yardage and scoring the lone Dolphins receiving touchdown. He came in with just three catches for 12 yards on the season, and there's little reason to believe this strong performance was much more than an outlier against an exploitable opponent.
Jones and teammate MarQueis Gray are expected to serve as the Dolphins' lone tight end options Sunday against the Jets, Chris Perkins of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports. Jones boasts three catches for 12 yards on the season, but with Jordan Cameron and Dion Sims both slated to miss Sunday's game due to concussions, he and Gray could benefit from an increased snap count.
The Broncos have listed S T.J. Ward, RB Juwan Thompson, LB Brandon Marshall , OL Paul Cornick, OL Michael Schofield, TE Dominique Jones and DT Mitch Unrein as inactive Week 17 against the Raiders. Marshall was the only player ruled out prior to Sunday. Both Cornick and Ward were listed as questionable. Cornick is dealing with a toe injury. Ward has a neck issue. Thompson was actually listed as probable, but will not play. He has both hip and knee injuries. Unrein was also listed as probable. He's dealing with an illness. The other two players listed are healthy scratches.
The Broncos declared running back Ronnie Hillman (foot), linebacker Brandon Marshall (foot), defensive back Tony Carter, offensive linemen Michael Schofield and Paul Cornick, tight end Dominique Jones and defensive lineman Quanterus Smith inactive for Monday's game at Cincinnati.
The Broncos promoted tight end Dominique Jones to the active roster. He's played in 13 career games, catching three passes for 42 yards.
